Testimonials

“The visit from Nicola today was fun and engaging. The children were fully immersed in her story 'My House is Full of Animals' and they absolutely loved acting out the animal parts. They really enjoyed spotting the different animals in the illustrations and following along with Nicola's animated retelling.  Prior to reading, Nicola spent time talking to the children about being an author and collecting their ideas. It was lovely, not only because they had the opportunity to meet an author on World Book Day but also because Nicola expertly engaged them in her book."

Hayley Fuat, Year 2 Teacher

Summercroft Primary School, UK

"Nicola was animated, engaging and the activities were well planned and thoughtful.  She had all bases covered and demonstrated that she was very flexible- could spend 40 minutes with a group or a whole day.  In preparation for the visit, the hat making activity worked really well.

The children enjoyed the session and several children bought books.”

Margaret Curran, Primary Year 1 Leader

Dulwich College Seoul

"We welcomed a visiting author, Nicola McClure, who read her very energetic story 'My House is Full of Animals' to all the Owls.  Before this event, the children made their very own animal hats to wear.  As Nicola read the story the children behaved like the different animals, tigers roaring, elephants stomping and monkeys chattering!

Following the story, Nicola had organised a variety of activities for the children to enjoy, colouring pages, writing and telling their own version of the story and using playdough to make the animals eating ice cream.  Thank you so much for visiting the Owls, they all had such a fantastic time!"

Adele Guinee,

Primary Foundation Stage Leader

Dulwich College Seoul

“In advance of the visit, the children completed a carefully crafted creative activity, whereby they made their own animal hats to wear for the story telling.  This ignited their curiosity and complemented the visit perfectly, setting the tone for the fun and engaging literacy activities that were to follow.

The children absolutely loved the drama activities and an utterly captivating reading of the story by Nicola that involved some unique and dramatic participation from all of the Year 2 children.

The follow-up story telling and writing activities were expertly differentiated for the children to complete as a group and individually, ensuring that all children could participate.

It was a joy to have Nicola visit us, and it was very much the highlight of Book Week. Please come back for next year!”

Mark Kelly, Primary Year 2 Teacher

Dulwich College Seoul

“Her lesson was engaging with songs, dancing, acting and hats! It was also very visual with nice photos and the use of her book. She gave some great advice for future authors!”

Phoebe Rowbottom

Year 2 Teacher

Dulwich College Seoul

“Nicola was very professional and easy to work with, her past being a teacher really showed and she was able to pace the lessons brilliantly and differentiate for all the early year groups (Nursery to Y2!). She makes the lessons engaging, fun and productive and the experience was positive.”
